Shiny Things is the World Watercolor Month prompt for July 7. Giving shiny things some thought, It occurred to me that cats are intrigued with shiny objects. So I enjoyed my morning warm up painting a playful cat.

Good morning – Yesterday I was experimenting with a straw and blowing the watercolor to develop trees. I chose this one, because I like how the strands of paint made the shapes of branches. The 03 Micron black pen was used to sketch on top of the paint for more dimension and the background is watercolor pencil.

I have an affinity toward Bonsai trees. I’m planning on taking a class on the care and growing of a Bonsai tree. This is my morning warm up contribution to your day.

Good morning…The swirling watercolor background was intended for a mosaic. But, when I painted the Shining Honeycreeper (Cyanerpes lucidus), on black paper, I thought the combination looked very tropical. The Honeycreeper is found in Central America.
I ‘ll be on a vacation for a few days, so I’ll be posting again at the end of next week. Have a good week ahead.
